We’re growing!

As can be seen by all of the increased construction, we are experiencing a tremendous growth in housing. More houses leads to more residents. More residents leads to more traffic. As traffic volumes increase so does the concern of the Town’s citizens regarding traffic safety. Some of the undesirable effects of increased traffic can be:

·   Cut-through traffic on residential streets

·   Excessive vehicular speeds

·   Disregard for traffic control signs such as stop, yield and no parking

·   An increase in automobile accidents

Now that we have identified potential problems, how do we address them? The starting point is by recognizing that we are the problem. The point is that as we drive in the Town, we are responsible for our driving behavior. Did I stop at that stop sign, am I driving too fast, am I following too closely? We need to understand that minor lapses in good driving habits can have significant consequences. If we all drove in the manner we want others to, our traffic concerns would be greatly reduced.

As citizens of the Town of Nolensville , we all share in the responsibility of creating a safe and secure community. An important part of that responsibility is nothing more than good citizenship, that concept taught to us at an early age.

So, let’s all drive safely and within the law. Not only will we be safer, we might even qualify for lower insurance rates.
